Ethiopia

Climate change impacts and conflicts in different parts of the country have continued to present multiple humanitarian challenges, including impacting years of investments made in social and economic infrastructure.

Overview

Whilst the two-year-long conflict in northern Ethiopia ended, the country faces many humanitarian challenges, ranging from recurrent climate shocks – such as droughts, floods, and landslides – alongside conflict, displacement, and outbreaks of infectious diseases like cholera and measles, including in areas still recovering from the lasting impacts of previous climate or conflict-driven crises.

Our work

We aim to support the Ethiopian Red Cross Society in to enhancing accountability systems in Disaster Relief Emergency Fund (DREF) operations by co-creating a methodology to systematically collect and utilise community feedback in DREF operations to gather actionable feedback that informs decision-making, improves programme adaptation, and reinforces community-led action.
